Since breaking through with the raw, alternative indie single Slip! in 2021 and following up with the vibrant and diverse debut EP We Speak of Tides, 23-year-old Aziya from London has established herself as a true musical triple threat. Inspired by her childhood idol Prince, she naturally combines powerful vocals with impressive guitar skills and an increasingly confident hand in production.

After posting a series of covers online in 2020, she quickly caught the attention of artists like Grimes, H.E.R., Anderson .Paak, and Florence & The Machine—the latter even invited her to support their O2 Arena shows. Through a series of independent and largely self-produced releases, Aziya has worked deliberately to carve out her own space in a music world without genre boundaries or rules—a world where, as she puts it, she can "be the artist I wished I had seen growing up."

This summer is set to be a whirlwind, with festival performances, her own headline tour, and a mixtape release—but one thing is crystal clear: Aziya knows exactly who she is and how to make the magic happen on her own terms.

"My ambitions have always been sky-high—the goal is to play the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury and sell out Madison Square Garden, and that hasn’t changed. I've always aimed big, but now I see much more clearly what the next steps are to get there."
